There I fixed it! (feat. XWiki's Paris Restroom)

The toilets of XWiki's Paris office have been broken for a couple days now.

Building up on the company's legendary entrepreneurial spirit, I took up the task of "fixing" them. Since water was falling down the tube, I thought adding some weight at the top of the structure would prevent the leak.

My fix worked kinda fine until Yves broke the control lever because he didn't remove the bottle of water prior to flushing the toilet... I hope a plumber will be coming soon :-)

Moving JV's flat - Part 1

Last week we got to move all of JV's stuff from his old place on the 5th floor of his building to his new place on the 6th floor of another building located 50 meters away in the same block of buildings. He invited a dozen of his mates to help him move and promised pizza & beer for anyone who would help him and we took him up on the offer.

The one caveat meager: none of these buildings have elevators.

We ended up carrying about 7 years of JV's stuff 15 meters down and then carried it right away 18 meters up - talk of a sisyphean task.

Happily enough as soon as all of JV's stuff ended up on the grounds of his new flat we proceeded into opening a couple of well-deserved beer cans while he was left trying to sort out his various possessions. He eventually sent us away back to his old flat - I think his rationale was that he preferred having us ruin the old one rather than the new one.

Anyway, we had a good time even though my back and arms suffered a bit during the following days :-)

I think I've had at least half the Romanian team sleep at my place now :-)

Let's count:

  • Raluca & Miruna slept both at my place and at my father's place
  • Sergiu slept at my father's place
  • Oana, Edy, Florin and Anamaria slept at my place
Total: 7 people, more than half the team!

If you add the fact that Jérôme have also slept there (well, and there's me too obviously) I've now hosted about a third of current XWiki employees :-)

The bad part is that I've got to manually inflate and deflate my airbed each time...
